OOTD: Cotton Candy

Comfortable and chic...my inspiration for today.   I love my jeggings because one, they are very stretchy and fit like a glove to accentuate my curves and two, they look like jeans but are more comfortable.   My color palette is flirty with a sky blue cardigan and a splash of pink which reminds me of cotton candy.  I made my earrings by attaching earring hooks from a local hobby store to the pendants I removed from two identical necklaces.  The tawny color detail from the belt mimics the boot color to tie this outfit together.  What color combination do you enjoy?

OOTN: Party Girls

Christmas does not only bring about the presents and decorations but also the parties.  There was a "White & Red Affair" my sister Caress and I attended for Christmas Eve.  We were not sure what to wear being the party was at a local bar.  Being the divas that we are, we decided to be dressy yet casual. Caress has a form fitting, colorful strappy bandage dress with detail on the back.  Also printed tights and flat boots finish her look.

Watch Out Now!

When I get dressed my accessories are like icing on a cake, they complete me.  My watch is my favorite accesory because it is practical for time telling and stylish.  These watches are chronological and include the hours of a day, stop watch, timer, and date.   I fell in love with Michael Kors after seeing a spread in a fashion magazine.  The chunky bands and big faces really standout and polish any look.  I love them all.  With each being unique, I always get compliments when I wear them.

How To: Brows 101

This post is designed to help demonstrate how easy it is to have "the perfect brow".  Many times I am stopped and questioned about what products or techniques I use to define my brows.  Your eyebrows are the frame of your face therefore being a key part of any makeup routine.  Below you will find four easy steps to achieving your perfect brow:
What You'll Need: angle brush, foundation brush, eyebrow brush, concealer, foundation

First, brush brows down in same direction.  Pluck any stray hairs if needed.

Darken eyebrows next with brush like strokes to create a natural shade and not a drawn on look.   Pencil or eyebrow powder can be used.  With eyebrow powder (or eyeshadow) you can wet brush before application to create a liquid powder effect.  Take time to notice the natural arch of your eyebrow because good brow shaping is essential.

Then, use an angle brush and outline the brows with concealer.  The shade of concealer can be the same as the shade of foundation or a shade lighter for a more made up look.

Last, a concealer or foundation brush can be used to blend foundation with concealer lines.

Finish look with eyeshadow and mascara.

OOTD: Leopard Glow

Its bright outside and you could never tell its December! The sun's warm glow through my curtains this morning inspired my outfit of the day.  I choose neutral colors such as gray and black to pair with the unexpected.   Print and patterns mix well with bright colors to makes a beautiful pallet.  Leopard print is a great way to liven up any look so I combined it here with a mustard scarf. The scarf makes the entire outfit pop. I wanted to be relaxed so I styled this look with jeans and knee high flat boots.  Heading to work?  Try pairing this look with black slacks or a skirt and your favorite heels!

Magical MAC Bag

Close your eyes.  Imagine a black bag with three white letters.  Imagine the bag floating towards you.  Then reach your arm in to find your most desired items!  That is exactly what happened to me today.  My very best friend surprised me with new MAC brushes and makeup!  Seems like the bag was magical because each time she reached in it, she kept pulling something out!

"Pink Nouveau"
The truest lipstick in hot pink color with even coverage.  My old one melted in the car and didn't take shape when I tried to freeze it.

"Strut"
Eye brows crayon with twist top in the perfect reddish brown shade to compliment my winter hair color

"Make it Perfect brush essentials"
The brushes are uber chic complete with glitter detail!   All packaged in a cute convenient carrying pouch.

   (left to right)
129 powder/blush brush- for application of powder products on face
190 foundation brush- for application/blending of powder on cheeks and face
226 fluff brush- for application/blending
266 small angle brush-for lining or shading
275 medium shading angle brush- for precision application and/or blending of powder eye shadow

Every make up maven needs to have a reliable set of brushes.  If MAC is not in the budget try Sonia Kashuk or Elf brushes both available at Target.  Brushes lay the foundation for a beautiful and well blended face.  After all...what is an artist without their brushes?

Pre-Gaming for New Years Eve

It's the dress, makeup, hair! Everything girly that gets me to go out for NYE.  I LIVE for the fashion forward night filled with excuses to wear over the top heels and sequins.  I recently heard of a new plus size clothing site called Fashion To Figure which is headed by grandsons from the Lane Bryant brand.  From the modest A-line wearer to the bodacious mesh panel bodycon dress seeker, Fashion to Figure has something for you.  I ordered today (for the second time because my first order was cancelled due to low inventory) and I feel the excitement build up as the New Year countdown begins!  I bought two dresses to ensure I will sachay to 2012 looking fab and fierce! Which do you like best?

The prices are low and there are promo codes during the month of December.  I used "Save $25 off $75 code: FTF2575"

New Years, No Resolution

2012 will not be another year of broken promises and unobtainable goals. I want to make smarter and healthier life decisions.  Fabulous and fierce I am, but not so fit.  Today was the start of a change of my eating habits.  My good friend Skye has lost 38 pounds in 4 months by drinking water and cutting carbohydrates.  THAT'S IT!  I tried it today and its not so bad...I can still have my cheese, sour cream and tea!  The hardest part of doing better will be cutting out chocolate and sweets.  But I strongly believe If you want something bad enough you will do it.   I will keep myself honest by daily weigh ins and weekly measurements.  Care to join me on the new you?
