All The Style & Half The Price

Saturday night I continued my weekend of partying and stepped out to a casual night club.  With my new GoJane.com shoes (similar to Jeffery Campbell's "Lita" $150-$185 ) I had to sturt my stuff all night in comfort.  I LOVE how chunky and tall my lace-up leatherette platforms are and instantly stylish with ANYTHING you put on.  They can be dressed up, or dressed down.  I wore my shoes with a hunter green and cream stripped bodycon skirt and a loose ruffly cream shirt.  The height of the shoe made my legs look great, and I felt sexy in my outfit.  Because I love my new shoes so much! I can justify splurging on the real deal, but in the meantime I have three more pairs I will be buying from GoJane.

She Fine And She Party All The Time

All fun in the city!  I was invited as a VIP guest to the grand opening of a new night club called Caviar with my friends Mia and Samora.  The venue was very pretty with gray painted walls, white crown molding, and a grand chandelier which created a very modern and upscale feel.  I wore a sexy one shoulder sequin dress I purchased from Fashion to Figure (shown in my previous post here).  The dress was glamorous and gave me a Kim K feel especially paired with my 5" nude patent leather heels.  I did find the sleeve too baggy on the dress and the bottom of the dress seemed loose.  All in all I loved my look and received many compliments so I would order from FTF again.  I had a great night with my besties and can't wait to do it again:)

OOTD: Edgy & Pretty

Today started out cloudy and cold so I wrapped up tight in a heavy sweater.  The detail on the sweater is a  big print that I tossed over a bubble shirt.  I wanted to have a "hard" pin up look so I wore a bold red lip and wore my hair in a smooth front roll.  A cool leather jacket makes my look edgy along with my leggings which have a faux leather paneling on the inside of my legs.  To top off the "hard" look, I wore combat boots which are uber comfortable with a 3" heel.

What I Wore
Sweater- Forever 21
Shirt- Forever 21
Leggings- NY&C
Boots- Bakers
Accessories- Forever 21/ Body Central
Watch- Michael Kors

Fashion Figures: Monif C

For about three years now I have been obsessed with Monif C.  She is a designer for plus size woman that I first noticed after an article in Essence magazine.  As a designer for full figured women, Monif C's designs exude sexiness and sophistication for the hips and curves of a diva.  My favorite dress is THE convertible dress.  It is one dress that can be worn a ton of ways!

The Teal "Marilyn" Ruched Convertible   $215 dress is so beautiful.  The shape is very flattering to a curvy diva's silouette and the colors are brillant, available in many colors.

The "Blanca" Gathered Faux Wrap Dress  $218 is elegant and daring with a bold red (also available in black).  Again the shape will compliement every curve for a full figured body.

The "Emma" Ponte Knit Arrow Dress  $208 has great detail with the point design, but yet simple.  Perfect for a conservative look because this dress is form fitting but not to "va va voom" and can be worn to work paired with a blazer

I haven't purchased anything yet but I will be saving my coins to make a purchase in the near future.  Check out her new collection here.

DIY: Dotted Denim OOTD

Bleach is one of my favorite components to work with because it causes such dramatic changes.  I love the color contrast of blue and white and this shirt can be casual with black leggings as or paired with a colorful skirt. I can not get enough of the chicness from this easy to do look!
Denim really is making a come back in fashion

What I Used
Bleach
Plastic Bag
Measuring Cup

What I Did

First, I laid my shirt in a large plastic trash bag and poured raw bleach in a measuring cup.

Then, I poured the bleach directly on the shirt while in the bag.

Second, I added bleach directly in the bag and shook it up.

Last, I kept the shirt in the bag for one day then washed in cold water with fabric softener to rid the bleach smell.

What I Wore
Shirt- Torrid (I added bleach detail)
Leggings- NY&C
Shoes- Payless Shoes
Jacket- Wilson's Leather
Earrings- I made
Scarf- H&M

Food Files: Baked Buffalo Wings

One of my goals for 2012 includes being healthier. I am not changing my lifestyle only to lose weight, but to also lower my risk for diabetes (which runs in my family). Also cardiovascular disease (heart disease) is the leading cause of death for African-American women 20-years of age and older. Scary right! I know.

I wanted to jump start my weight lost so I decided to cut carbohydrates and sugar almost completely out of my diet. (Before starting any diet check with your doctor). I learned how to read labels, and I keep a journal of my progress. Every morning I check my weight. Each month I record my measurements. I will post about what I learn to keep myself honest and hopefully motivate other people:)

So find below my recipe which is a staple in my dinner and lunch meals.  Low carbs and very tasty!

OOTN: Twisted in Teal

My look tonight was a hit and also a surprise!  I was rushed to get dress and put my shirt on twisted.  As I looked in the mirror to fix my shirt properly, I saw a glimpse of the back of my shirt.  Viola! My whole outfit was changed and my focal point became the chic, sheer shirt I found at Goodwill for only $3.  The pleats on the front are my favorite part of my look but the back makes my outfit!  I wore a leopard print bra to give life to my look. The belt ties in the colors and serves as the icing on my style cake:)

Teal is the color of the season and I brought it out with my DIY earrings and shoe.  The earrings came from a necklace that I pulled apart and put on hooks.

A party isn't a party if you don't have great company.  I danced the night away with my bestie of 14 years Selina, you can check out her Twitter here.
