Fashion Figures: Rue 107

Rue 107 is a contemporary, fun, and unique ready to wear collection created by designer Marie Jean-Baptisete.  Based out of New York, this collection stands out from the crowd with bright colors, unique prints and very bold designs.  The Fifi dress is hands down my favorite dress with a kaleidoscope design of different colors.  For a more classic look I would go for the Macchiato dress with a timeless shape and neutral colors.

Rue 107 has caught my eye a few times while window shopping but I've always stemmed away from purchasing because this is not a "plus-size" designer. Sticking with my motto "If it stretches, It fits" I plan to try one of these dresses because I notice they are made typically with 15% spandex like with the Fifi dress.  After seeing some of my favorite divas rock this designer's fab work, I will be adding a piece of Rue 107 to my wardrobe this season!

Blazer & Booties

Jailstripe print is very popular this fall.  I swooned over this blazer from Forever 21 when I visited Atlanta last month.  The fit is short and cropped and very fitted.  One of the reasons I'm in love with jailbreak stripes is simple, there versatile!  You can wear any color and look great.  I choose a teal tunic I wore as a dress and paired grey lace up booties I scored from Just Fab.  The pearl necklace and big hoop earrings competed my look and I stepped out with an icing blue lined wing eye.

The weather is finally getting cold!  Time to put away the summer clothes and pull out the favorite winter pieces.  Fall/ Winter 2012 will be full of the 'rocker look' with spikes and leather detail.   Plan to incorporate the new trends but on a budget. Privilege To Party

Over the weekend I attended a birthday party at Club Privilege and wanted to keep it basic.  I have not worn my midi Asos skirt since I bought it in June because I wanted to wear a bright color top and basic black shoe with the skirt.  What's the problem?  Well I have yet to find a black shoe!  Instead of going for a lot of pazzaz I wore a simple black lace body suit, a black cumberband and a wild shoe.  The earrings hold an Egytian feel and ties in the whole outfit.  I made my makeup light and kept a dark lip.  I loved the skirt and just wish I bought it in a smaller size.  As a hint, Ladies buy 2 dress sizes smaller than what you are for a body conscience fit.
