Spikes & Leather

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting fellow plus size blogger Chante, check out her blog here. She came to visit Charlotte and it was perfect for girls night out on the town. Decked out in our bodycon dresses and skirts we were the light of the club and shined bright with an array of personal style.  My outfit was thrown together with a gifted top from Luxe Vain Boutique (available here).  I adore the faux leather detail of the top and its very flattering to my frame.  The bright neon skirt (first seen here) was the perfect contrast color and I served bad girl realness with the Lita Spike shoe by Jeffery Campbell.  To keep my makeup interesting I wore two shades of purple and channeled my inner Rihanna.

Purple Passion

My day of love was everything a girl can ask for.  I spent time with loved ones, got dolled up and had a great dinner.  To prevent the cliche red dress attire for Valentine's Day I choose a purple and gold palette to compliment my Asos Body-Conscience Dress in Jewel Print.  This dress has been in my closet for a couple of months because it seemed too formal for the club, and the high neck collar was not particularly my taste.  By wearing the dress backwards, a sexy yet classy look was achieved. To stay true to the berry color scheme, I wore berry purple lips with a pop of pink and only gold accent earrings.

The weather is finally getting cold!  Time to put away the summer clothes and pull out the favorite winter pieces.  Fall/ Winter 2012 will be full of the 'rocker look' with spikes and leather detail.   Plan to incorporate the new trends but on a budget. Christmas is approaching fast so now is the time to save your coins!  Spoil family and friends this holiday season and do so without sacrificing your shopping capabilities.  Instead of going on a shopping hiatus, stalk the internet to find less expensive but still chic items.  Below are some of the guilt-free items I plan to splurge on for my winter wardrobe.

Oh So Wavy!

For a night on the town I went for a bodycon tank dress that fit like a glove and held me all in.  I really been into black and white lately and bought many tops, dresses and scarfs in just these two colors.  The versatility with this dress made styling options unlimited.  I chose to wear my most comfortable heels the bright pink Evangel by Jessica Simpson since I was going to see 2Chainz at a night club with my homie Mia.  I mixed two lip colors Viva Nicki and Girl About Town and put a dab of purple on my eye.  Some of you may recognize my divaboo, Mia from Diary of a Fatshionista (follow her here), we had a blast and I can't wait for part two!

Maxin' & Relaxin'

I have been obsessed with DIYs lately and when my sister came to visit me, that was all we wanted to do!   We found a simple  DIY on tumblr from "Blackgirlskillingit".   A big trend this spring is the maxi skirt and dress.  By pairing my baseball shirt with an olive maxi skirt I was able to create a comfortable, lightweight flowing outfit.  My day look was accessorized with a jumbo quilt bag, big bracelets, and navy stripped platforms.  I love the skirt and can't wait to wear it again, maybe next time I'll dress it up.

Tribal Hi-Lighter

One of the latest trends for this summer is the 'high & low' hem for dresses and shirts.  Being that I have a little junk in the trunk I appreciate the extra length in the back.  I found this shirt in particular to be very lightweight and comfortable.  The color is an awesome yellow and since the shirt was see thru I wore a white tank underneath.  I paired this cheery shirt with a pair of pants I swiped from my little sister :)  My pants are on the line of fabulous slash hideous (as I been told), but I pulled out the charm and combined these questionable pants with my secret weapon- my adorable panda bear necklace.  I turned many heads today and was dubbed fashionista by my friends for making these pants look good.  Do you have any items in your closet that's so hideous its fabulous?

Fashion Figures: Monif C

For about three years now I have been obsessed with Monif C.  She is a designer for plus size woman that I first noticed after an article in Essence magazine.  As a designer for full figured women, Monif C's designs exude sexiness and sophistication for the hips and curves of a diva.  My favorite dress is THE convertible dress.  It is one dress that can be worn a ton of ways!

The Teal "Marilyn" Ruched Convertible   $215 dress is so beautiful.  The shape is very flattering to a curvy diva's silouette and the colors are brillant, available in many colors.

The "Blanca" Gathered Faux Wrap Dress  $218 is elegant and daring with a bold red (also available in black).  Again the shape will compliement every curve for a full figured body.

The "Emma" Ponte Knit Arrow Dress  $208 has great detail with the point design, but yet simple.  Perfect for a conservative look because this dress is form fitting but not to "va va voom" and can be worn to work paired with a blazer

I haven't purchased anything yet but I will be saving my coins to make a purchase in the near future.  Check out her new collection here.
