Gone With The Wind Fabulous

One of the goals I've been working on in 2014 is to be more social.  You're probably thinking, "Crissy, not a social butterfly??  Yeah, right!' but its true.  As a blogger and small business owner I know its important to network and find people that are knowledgeable in different aspects where we can help one another.  Recently, I was invited to an intimate brunch where I was surrounded by established business women and entrepreneurs like myself.  The brunch had a touch of a southern tea party with a twist of Kentucky Derby as we all looked gone with the wind fabulous in our fancy hats.  The #WomenWhoNetwork business brunch was more than just sipping mimosas and trading business cards.  When I left I felt a sense of encouragement and comfort and I am looking forward to the next event.  If you're in Charlotte or the surrounding area and wish to attend, check out the Women Who Network Instagram page here for more information.

The Influence Fashion Show

"Style should not be compromised because of your size."

One of the many struggles in plus size fashion is finding the cross between sexy and appropriate for clothing options.  The clothing provided by Luxe Vain Boutique proves you can have curves and flaunt them without looking too provocative.  I was apart of the 2nd Annual Jewelry & Fashion Show “The Influence” hosted by the House of Chanel, Designs By Danny and Ego Emporium.  The show featured different jewelry pieces as well and different designers showcasing their new looks.  The message of the show was developed by A.Guy who is the fashion play producer for Dezign Nation.  Her goal was to project how plus size fashion is not boring, ugly or, frumpy and that full figured women are over with wearing baggy 'paper bag' clothing.  Luxe Vain is here to break through the stereotypes and flaunt the curves of the female body.  I love the message and want every Divadoll to embody the Luxe Look.

Hey BraceFace!

"Make the most of yourself...for that is all there is of you."- Ralph Waldo Emeson

If you don't like something about yourself, why not change it?  I have always been slightly insecure of the spacing and rotated tooth in my mouth.  One of the benefits of most employers include having dental insurance.  This year I took advantage of my discounts and paid for braces.  To some people I don't need them, but to make myself feel great about my personal image I got them!  My experience so far has been better than expected.  As of day 9, my teeth are feeling back to normal.  For the first two days my mouth was not sore, however whenever I clenched my teeth together or attempted to chew my teeth felt as though they were going to shatter.  I was extremely paranoid and uncomfortable in eating anything so I mostly drank soups, and had mashed potatoes.  Brushing my teeth is more tedious and flossing became a whole mission.  So far I am managing my braces and have an appointment set in a few weeks for my bottom braces.

Turban Love, It's a Wrap

Whenever I get dressed I like to find my "it" item weather its an article of clothing or an accessory.  My it item for this relaxed summer look was my turban and glasses.  The turban has been around since my grandmother was rocking them, but I was able to make it look cool and hip.   By paring fun glasses and a dark lip I created a fun look that is stylish and unique.  Try jazzing up any casual outfit with a turban or head wrap.  How would you style your turban?  I'm thinking maybe a maxi skirt or dress next time.
